No, I wouldn't say it would be "cool." You "yankees" have your own hicks and rednecks. The opposite of Yankee is Southerner.

The modern definition of Yankee is geographically defined as someone who lives above the Mason Dixon line.

The definition of "hick" or "redneck" is not geographically limited.

see thats where we would disagree.......the opposite of south is north.......therefore the opposite of "southerner" is "northerner"
